About the Harford Ballet Company
The Harford Ballet Company is the premier classical and contemporary dance company in Harford County and the Northern Maryland region. The company is composed of dedicated pre-professionals who audition each year and commit to a rigorous schedule of technique classes, rehearsals, and ballet performances. During HBC's 11th anniversary season the company continues to pursue its mission to share its creative resources and talents with the community through high caliber, professional performances and programs designed to educate, enrich, and entertain.
HBC gives company members the opportunity to explore their full dance potential and to interact closely with respected experts in the field of dance. Company members perform alongside professional dancers in HBC productions and learn technique and choreography from master dance teachers. Through this intensive training Harford Ballet Company dancers have a unique opportunity for personal growth and development. As dancers strive to achieve their own artistic goals, they gain invaluable life-skills. This personal growth and accomplishment is not only of value to each individual dancer, but it is also an asset to the Harford County community.
In addition to numerous outreach performances and festival appearances, HBC annually presents major productions of The Nutcracker during the Holiday season and our Spring mixed bill production including a ballet adaptation of a cherished fairy tale. HBC has developed a unique, audience interactive performance style that is geared towards children, but also provides dance and choreography of the highest professional quality. Every HBC production offers all audience members a better understanding and appreciation for the art of classical ballet as they enjoy the entertaining diversity of each performance.
HBC is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization overseen by an advisory Board of Directors who work with the artistic director and the company manager to provide administrative support for the Company. HBC constantly seeks financial backing for the valuable art of ballet through memberships, grants, and personal and corporate donations so as to safeguard this priceless experience for dancers and audience members alike.
